Create a Basic Letter

Basic Letters use templates you've created, where variables in the document are automatically replaced with the client's and account data. (See Creating Letter Templates for how to build one.)

1. Go to the dispute
Inside the client's Disputes tab, open the dispute you want to add a letter to.

2. Start a new letter
Click Create Letter.

3. Step 1: Select Template
Choose the letter template you want to use, then click Next.

4. Select accounts to dispute
On the left sidebar, filter the account list by type:

  • All Accounts — every account on the credit report

  • Negative Accounts — only accounts flagged as negative

  • A specific negative account type: Collections, Chargeoff, Late Payments, Inquiries, Personal, or Bankruptcy

In the grid on the right, each row is an account and each column is a bureau (Transunion, Experian, Equifax). Check the box next to the account under each bureau where you want to dispute it — an account may show different account numbers or statuses per bureau, so you can select it for one bureau, several, or all three depending on where it should be disputed.

5. Select documents to attach
At the top, choose which client documents to include as attachments: SSN Document, ID Document, Utility Bill, or Select All.

6. Finish
Click Finish to generate the letters:

  • If you selected accounts across multiple bureaus, a separate letter is generated for each bureau, containing only the accounts selected for that bureau.

  • If you selected accounts for only one bureau, only that bureau's letter is generated.
